OK guys! I want to get my new radtator on today!
I need to know do the springs go between the radiator and the frame or do they go under the frame (on the side where the nuts go). I also want to know how thick of a pad do I put under the radiator.I have some old mud flap off of a truck is this too thick? I dont want my radiator to stand up to high to rub the hood.

Thanks David

Original style reproduction mounting pads are readily available from a variety of sources including myself and YT. Lots easier than trying to carve one out of a mudflap and when you are done it will be right.

The original pads were about 5/32 thick. Be good if that flap is nylon reinforced.

Under the frame, above the nuts. Be sure to grease the bolts w/water resitant grease, either you or someone else will THANK YOU for this sometime in the future when the radiator has to come off. Those bolts ALWAYS rust & in MHO, taking them off is the most miserable job there is when you are working on an H. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Know the feeling,I was 3 hours getting those little darlings out. Had to take it off twice since.Think I'll have to pull it again.Bought a set of offset rachet box wrenches at HF.They take about half the fun out of it.They help a lot.

You said it. On my '40, without the access holes, it was the only time I sent tools flying across the shop. The only miserable job on the whole restoration.
