I have seen an ad for a IH 37 wheel disc. How big is this disc and how old is it? Can I pull it with my '49 C?

I have a No.37 disk harrow and the manual and in the manual the widths in the front ranged from 8'6" to 14'. The rear gangs ranged from 8'6" to 14' also, and plus they all came in different spacings, such as 7" to 9". We have two tractors that can pull this disc, one is a 1949 Farmall "H". When I use this tractor, I put a "breather" on the two way clinder, and I also set the gauging strap two one of the higher holes. It only goes in the ground about 5" deep, and my H has no problem pulling it. The other tractor I use is a International 886. I can set the gauging strap lower, and I don't need the "breather". In your case, I don't think a C would pull the smallest model. If you our intrested, I could also make some copies of the manual and send them to you , if you supply a mailing address.

The IHC 37-A Disk harrow was a 10 or 11 foot disk, It was a good 'un matched up with the 560, It would be a little too big to pull with a C

I think a #37 disc is too large for a C tractor.
We have a #37 disc on wheels, and our 350 Farmall
can do OK, but in soft dirt, it can pull hard.
Our disc is about 11 foot cut. I would think
you would need about 35 to 40 horsepower tractor
at least.

I've got a 37, it's 12' pulled it behind my D-17 IV Sunday. If it was really working it was all 17 wanted. under light conditions I think my 45 would pull it but I wouldn't want to go any less HP. John

Well, it's like this. When you inherit you don't ask but I'm looking for more orange stuff. Besides, I used to pull the 37 with a 1066. Talk about not enough disc, so I bought a 20' 470 with dual wheels and a Remlinger harrow for $300. Oh well, I have WD45, D-17, Duetz 4006, IH 1066 and a Case 580 Backhoe. Oh yea and a 745 Willmar Air-Ride with 60' booms, Raven Monitor, Hydrostatic 4WD with a 2039T John Deere engine and a 4070B International COE tractor.

I had a 37 disk in 1959 size about 11 foot and i think there was an 8 foot but I am not sure. A C would not pull the smaller one very well

How big or small of a disc should I look for? I was thinking of a 6-8 foot one. Is this too big? I pull a two bottom Little Genius ok and need a disc to break up the clods.

Thanks
Brian
