Hey Red; It wasn't the distributor any way... This might be the reason that they sold the tractor in the first place !! I took the carburator apart for the 20th time and blow all the ports out agin. I did not get a throttle shaft bushing with the rebuild kit. that was the only thing that had not been replaced. acrrording to the service manual the 2 holes in it was to line up with the 2 on the carb. if they don't ,engine doesn't get air when reved up!!!Soooo the guy who installed it before had a hole not lined up.. part cost ($4.14) So the old story don't trust others work, check all you'r self.. I put bushing in correct way, and low and behold the beast roars.. Thanks agin for all the help everyone.

Are you talking about lining up the throttle plate on the throttle shaft which is adjustable? You lost me in your correction to the problem.

No ,the hole in the top of the carb that the throtalshaft goes into.It holds the butterfly plate. Theres a bushing that goes in there. and on the throtal shaft there is a slot that lets air in when you open up the throtal.(economizer slot in shaft)

I am looking at the parts page on the M carb. I can't visualize the "slot" you are mentioning other than the slot where the throttle plate slides through. I do see an indentation on the shaft left of the throttle plate. Is that what you are referring to? It's been 9 years since I rebuilt an M carb. The H does not have that.

Hey Red - Maybe only the later H/M carbs have the economizer slot? (I know both my SH and SM got 'em). Look in the I&T manual if you have one - I'm pretty sure it's described in one of the carb diagrams there.

And Bob's right - if that bushing gets installed with the hole lined up wrong, the motor won't run worth a *#&^+@! at certain load settings. (Been there...)
