Sounds like a cub,trade it off for a real tractor. That is if you need power.

I had the same problem with my 48' Cub last year. I would start with all the common things. Make sure you are getting a good flow of gas, try adjusting the carb, check your plugs and make sure you are getting good fire. Replace your points. Check your oil for water, in my case my I had a head bolt break and caused it leak antifreeze in the cylinders. Report back what you find. Good luck Bill {Antique Acres}

My Cub is the same way. It sit all winter then when spring comes it won't run. I let the cub run for a while, let it get hot. Then slowly start working the tactor. After an hour or two it will run fine.

I pull a 1500lb. yard roller with my cub, and pulls it with no problem. The Cub is just sick from siting all winter.

I agree that the Super M also seems to run poorly at first in the spring. I usually let it have a nice long slow warm up. I also add just a little bit of carb cleaner to the fuel.
My Great Uncle Pat used to add a pint of diesel fuel. The tractor would spit and cough and sputter and have great clouds of smoke, but then run better.

are you sure it is not just corrosion on the points and bad gas in the system...sounds like time for some maintenance...also is the govenor stuck? is it reacting to the pull on the motor?..let us know...p
