Starting super h...having problem after rebuild

new rod and mains. new rings. now only 30 lbs. compression on all cylinders. tractor will only run when towed. stops running when tow stops. is possible problem broken cam, or sheared timing gear key? please e mail response, thank you.

#1 check valve lash adj
#2 Did you have the cam out? Was it running before rebuild? Were the ring gaps staggerd?
Look for the simple fixes before you relick this calf. Let us know what fixes this, or ask for more help as needed///////////

try pulling the valve cover and bringing the #1 piston to tdc between the intake and exaust stroke and watch the rockers as you turn the motor back and forth. It would sound to me that the crank and the cam gear are misalinged allowing the exaust valves to to be open during the end of the power stroke

Why would it only run when towed if either or both the cam or timing gear key broke/ No, sounds like loss of compression, timing, valves, carburator issues. Just guessing from basic mechanical experience.
