I just had my armature replaced on the generator. Was there a gasket on the cover of the armature?
I have a feeling that there should be. Anyone know.

Thanks, Big M

Glad you asked that question. My Super C doesn't have the gasket under its cover band, and it just might be a good idea to find some material and make one up

Thanks!
Fred

Believe me, that gasket helps. My starter didn't have one for at least twenty years, and the pitting on the casing where the water sat under the band is pretty severe. After the starter was rebuilt I got some material for the generator and fixed it right up. Chris

My local starter/generator repairman gave me a length of cover material. It seems to be textured rubber. He told me to wrap it around, tighten down the band, and trim off the excess on the sides.

Are you referring by chance to the band that covers the slot on the generator frame on an H or M? If so, yes. There is no part number for the gasket itself. I don't think all my H starters have had that gasket though.

I made one out of gasket material and put the metal band over it. Works good. It helps keep the dirt out.
