Well...the Super H came roaring back to life this afternoon...the holes in the manifold and lack of muffler made it quite an early July 4th celebration. I still have bunch of stuff that needs fixing, but that will happen in time.

Thanks Bob M and The Red and everyone else for the advice. This is the second Farmall I have bought...neither of which were running at the time. Both run now. There are few sounds sweeter than the sound of a Farmall engine coming back to life after years of silence.

Ya'll have a great 4th...Binder

Congratulations, I know the feeling. Was an hour drying my pants out when mine started. Be sure to keep a can on the exhaust pipe when it's off, even in the shed. And fix the holes soon. I was told the cold air back into the manifold without a muffler or through any holes is not good for the valves. You should be OK for a while though.

I took your advice and called the good folks at Carter & Gruenwald...The new manifold is on the way...well...there goes another $141...I just keep reminding myself how much fun I'm having. Thanks for the tip...

I hope Ken threw in a gasket and exhaust pipe at that price. I should see a check from him for $14.10. :)

You're just beginning to have fun. Wait till you actually start using it.
Good luck.

Congrats, BB. Those Farmalls sound sweet with or without a muffler!

According to the previous owner it had not moved under its own power in over 3 years. Based on the number of wasp nests, birds nests and the like I would say that's about right.

When I bought the Indy H in 1990, it had sat in a shed for 3 years. Ernie and I threw in some fresh gas. I gave him a yank down the road and she came to life.

Some guys have all the luck!!! Mine had been OUTSIDE for 3 years, but at least the whole engine was covered and some guy had slathered red paint over everything, so the sheet metal isn't too bad...
