Super M Info

Just bought a Super M for $500. The guy said it ran when he parked it, about 6 years ago, but had carb problems. I'm thinking, it's probably governor related, as well. This tractor joins an H, a Super C, 3 F-12's, a W-12, a TD-40 and some other makes. The M is in good condition as far as the tin and completeness goes. I wonder if it is a Super, though, as my info shows it to be a 1944 Model (sn FBK 69028 X). Were Supers available in '44? Is $500 too much or a good deal? Appreciate any feedback. Bill

Your serial no. is a 1944 but super m's were not started until 1952. Alot of people put super m decals on when they repaint. Your M has drum brakes a super m has disc brakes. A few M's had disc brakes at the end of the production run in 1952 but they are rare. The m has a 248 c.i. motor and the sm has 264 c.i.

Bill, I think it's a M, per the serial #. Personally I think $500 for a tractor like the M is a deal if the engine is not stuck or isn't completely worn out. If the tires are nearly new, they're worth almost that much.

I'm sure it is an M, not a Super. I picked it up this afternoon. The sheet metal is excellent and complete right down to the hood emblem, which convinced me it's an M. I think I knew the original owner and recall that he put a Super M kit in it. When he painted it, he used Super M decals. The tires are shot, but I can get decent ones for damn near free from a guy I know who builds lettuce and brocolli harvesters out of SAME 85's. Size 13.5 x 38. Thanks for the input!
