It appears the hydraulic pump housing on my 300U is aluminum, and the last hamfisted mechanic that had the hydraulic manifold (pipes between reservoir and pump) off overtorqued the bolts and stripped the threads. I can't get them over finger tight. I haven't taken the pump off yet, is there room in the housing for helicoils? I'm not getting pressure, I know this because I have no leaks (!), and I'm thinking the loose manifold is sucking air, as it didn't have a lot of oil in it when I took it off.

I thought about it for 12 seconds, decided the pump would have to come off anyway, so it's off now. Plenty of room for helicoils. Looks like it's been apart before, bet I won't be able to get the timing right on the first try when I put it back together. :o(

I don't like the way those things are timed up, I think its the same as my 400. You have to pull the front cover to get the timing marks lined up, which is a pain, oh well, what else do I have to do in my spare time? : )
