Could I install 15.5-38 rear tires on my Super M without screwing anything up? Would it help traction? I don't do tractor pulls with it but may later. Thanks Hi Jakee, How you doing?

I bought a SMTA at auction that had just been fitted with a new set of radial 15.5's. It had the original rims that were about 11 inches wide. It seemed to work ok set up like that but I didn't like the way it looked. I changed to new 15 in wide rims. I have always been told that the tire side wall should be straight and not curved like the tires in RB's picture. If you check the parts manual, you will see that 11-38 rims were fitted to 11, 12, and 13-38 tires. IH also offered 12-38 rims for 13-38 tires.

Measure the outside width of the rim where the bead of the tire seats in the rim using a makeshift set of calipers. Subtract 1/2" for the inside width. Any ag tire shop can answer your question if you know the actual width of the rim. For what is worth, I use 15.5 x 38" tires on 2 of my M's. Good luck.

I dont exactly remember now but I think they will. Its been awhile since I have seen this old gal but I think the rims were just replacement and not bigger or wider than factory.I do remember the tires are 15.5

My Super M has 14.9 x 38's on stock rims - they fit and work fine. Gotta think the extra 1/2" or so width of 15.5's would fit OK too....

Bart that might depend on the width of your rims. Give Miller Tire a call. They advertise on this site and are good folks to deal with.

Thanks for all the info. I didn't even think of Miller Tire and I bought front tires from them last Fall. Great looking Super M RB. Those are my initials also. Maybe my Super will look like that in 20 or 30 years. Thanks again.
