I'm going to look a 1958 + International 340 Utility Tractor tonight. Was there a three pt
hitch with this, or was it optional. If you have
a picture of a restored one that would be great.
Did you have to switch hyd hoses for from the front to the back if you wanted to running something off the back of the tracor like a brush hog.

Ours has the fast hitch which was easily adapted to a three point, as for the hydralics, I dont have to do anything to them to use a 3 point brush hog. Ours has auxillary ports on the front and the rear with seperate controls. I also think most of them had TA's, although some equiped for loaders had PS and direction reversers.

Thanks! I just came back from looking at the tractor and the fast hitch was converted
over to 3pt. A couple of things though with
this one. When the PTO is shut off it makes
a slight winding sound. Also any ideas where
the battery was located?? This one was behind
the seat.

That is the correct spot for the battery, the grinding sound might be the pto brake.

The battery on ours is also behind the seat, I made a tool box that fits on top of it to carry the 3- point accessories between implements. Our pto makes a whining noise when disengaged and I adjusted it and made it somewhat better but its still there. It used to actually lug the engine a little when disengaged, so using imlements that didn't use it, we leave it engaged. I understand its a planetary clutch so there are less parts turning in gear than out. I still haven't got it adjusted to where I'm happy with it.

I really liked the 340 Utility, that tractor was
solid. Needs lights and battery box, it has a few other things missing, and some of the gauges
were not working.
