We've got some photos in the archives of the Hemp plant operations. When the normal sources of rope fibre for the U.S. got invaded by the Japanese in WOrld War II, the government set up hemp plants to produce hemp fibre for ropes and such. Hemp growing got banned in the U.S. in 1937 (afraid everyone wuold smoke it) so the government had to reestablish it. I didn't know that the government had to supply tractors- the growing seems to have been done on private farms. You need to find a hemp binder or cutter to go with that tractor-the binders are very different from a grain binder. The reapers are tougher than a regular reaper, but I'm not sure what they used in WWII to cut the hemp- the hemp reapers went out of production in 1937.

Is there any way you could scan or get those pictures onto your computer? I am a hemp activist and International Harvester junkie. Would love to see pics of old hemp farms.

Thanks for the info. Does the model plate make this tractor more collectable or is it just a plate on a standard H?
