What are the steps to repairing a leak from the hydrolic pump? It drips always from the center of the tractor just under the pair of lines which go back to the 3 pt hit

Bruce remove the small rear plate between the liftall and the transmission. More than likely the liftall is leaking at the liftall coupler and possibly through the liftall reservoir gasket. If that is the case, you will need a coupler seal and a reservoir gasket. To remove the liftall, drain the oil and remove the filler and outlet pipes and disconnect the activating arm. Turn the dog and female coupler on the liftall vertical. I don't recall if there is a drive shaft between the dog and coupler on the M. The parts book does not show one. Get help to remove the liftall. It weighs a good 100 pounds plus!

I have not had an M liftall apart so I will pass the torch at this point.

.....I saw a posting one time where someone suggested lowering the Lift All by replacing the bolts with threaded rod w/ nuts (one at a time!) and lowering it on the rods by backing off the nuts. Sounds slow, but makes it a one man job. Never had to touch my Lift All on my '53 SM in just about a year of casual playing with the drop bucket. The pump might be a little tired (a few extra rpm's helps that) but the hydraullics on this are unbelievably tight. The roll back that delivered it leaked more than the tractor has. I have not lost a drop. I guess I'll just count my blessings
