I have a restored 52 Super C that my grandfather bought new. I would like 3-pt capabilities but my C does not have a factory fast hitch. Any comments on aftermarket conversions would be appreciated. I know worksaver makes both a 3-pt conversion (for a factory fast hitch) as well as a 3-pt kit for use with no fast hitch. I have heard that the more stable way to go is to find a factory fast hitch and go with the conversion because the bolt on kit is not very stable. Any comments? Thanks in advance ... Bill

First, do you have the hydraulic pump and touch control? If so, either is a viable solution, but I think the after market 3 pt is the cheaper solution to getting a 3 pt tractor. Otherwise you are relegated to searching boneyards for the parts needed and repairing those (why do you think they are in the boneyard?). Belive me, unless there is a well stocked yard near you, searching for parts is not as easy as it sounds.

Why not pick up the phone and order a new one and have it delivered to your door? I have heard that the Worksaver is a pretty good unit. Besides Worksaver, Saginaw county makes a unit that come highly recomended for the H and M...I don't know if it fits the Super C or not.

I have some sort of 3 pt conversion on my Super H, but it needs work. If I can't salvage it, I'm going with Saginaw County.

I have added a fast hitch to two straight C tractors so it is certainly feasable and very useful. But between the two direct options (ie: straight to the 3 pnt) I would recommend the Saginaw hitch over the Worksaver. I used them both also. The Worksaver is easier to install as it doesn't require any hyd system mod's, but gets it's lift from long arms attached to the rockshaft levers under the fuel tank. Very limited lift capacity, no down pressure. Saginaw offers another hitch, slightly downsized from the H/M model specifically for the C/SC/200/230 tractors. it mounts to the rear axel brackets like the H/M hitch does and comes with a hyd cylinder (that you have to plumb in). Much improved lift capacity, down pressure, and float (by pulling a pin). The fast hitch also has a cylinder on the back so you get the same improvements there, as well as 3 angles of hyd control. I would recommend either the fast hitch or the Saginaw kit. More work to get the remote hyd valve, but well worth it in utility.

I'll second that on the Saginaw hitch. Best 3 point on the market!!! I just got mine going. I bought it before last Christmas and just found a decent priced auxiliary hydraulic control valve. That is the worst part. Saginaw makes a kit to use a valve you can buy at F&F or TSC, but it is a large bulky valve that looks goofy wherever you mount it.

Thanks for the input guys, that sort of information is extremely valuable! Stan ... I'm sold on the Saginaw hitch, based on the comments. I do have factory hydraulics with with the rockshafts, do you plumb the 3pt into the fluid tank, pump, in-line or what? And what sort of auxilary hydraulic control valve did you find (or do you need) to complete the installation. I guess you can't use the valving already in place without affecting the rockshaft control? Thanks again for your help, all of you, this is good stuff! By the way, can you order the Saginaw setup or do you need to find a distributor? Bill

I have heard of guys using the test ports on the normal C tube flange. You will still need a valve. The touch control does not control outside hyd stuff. I was going to tap into the smaller line (pressure side) with a TSC valve. The problem was this is a large bulky valve.

The auxiliary control valve is factory on fast hitch or rear hydraulic C, Super C, 200, and 230.

You can order direct from Saginaw. They are some real good guys to work with. They ship by truck hitches every day. Seems like it could be shipped for like $40. It is a very heavy hitch.

Take a look at mine at the link below. The hitch pictures are at the bottom of the page.

That front blade is a factory 6' snow/grader blade. It can be mounted out front where you see it for snow or can be belly mounted for better grading. It came with my tractor. I have seen one advertised on this site a while back for $200. Wenger's has them for around $600 I think.

It uses the touch control system to lift. Works very well. I used it for snow last winter and for dozing dirt last summer.

Nice pictures Brian. I only have 1 up, it's on the ATIS image depot (www.atis.net) under the farmall directory as Stans_C.jpg or something like that;) Bill, I think he said it all. On the two C's I used the factory aux valve, on my Super M (also with a Saginaw hitch) I used an aftermarket 2spool valve mounted to the seat box, on a B (that I fitted a Saginaw C hitch to) I added the pump and manifold without the touchcontrol assy and threaded fittings into the back of the manifold to go through an aftermarket valve to the reservoir and back.

Thanks agian Brian and Stan. Brian, great photos!! That is one great looking C! Do you have any more showing line routing and valve and control location (second thought why don't you just come help me install mine, Ha! jsut kidding) . It looks like the lines go under the tool box, and where is the control. Guys .. I don't know if I have a factory auxilary valve (I do not have a factory fast-hitch), where do I look or how do I know. And if I don't, any additoinal help on mounting locations for both the valve (so it looks decent) and control would be appreciated. Ya'll (I'm living in Tennessee now) are great help. Thanks again, Bill
ps.. I'll try not to ware-out my welcome!

Don't have any pictures of the valve right now. I will look some more or take some new ones.

The valve mounts on the right side of the touch control reservoir. The handle is mounted on the right hand headlight bar with a rod going to the valve. There are tubes that bolt to the valve and run to the pump. If your tubes have a three bolt casting on the valve end then you don't have the aux valve. These are kind of hard to find. They are out there, but most people are very proud of them. I have been toying with the idea of making these. Seems like quite a demand for them.

I wanted mine installation to look factory. So I routed my lines under the seat. Had to make a pan under the pedestal to protect the hoses from the tools in the toolbox.

P.S. You are not wearing out your welcome, you are learning. That is what this site is for.

Thanks again Brian. I'm going to do it. You sure did a great job on your's, I'll post pictures when I'm done (Ive got the wide-front on mine), and thanks for the guidance. Does Saginaw provide any installation guidance with the purchase of the 3pt? And if an auxilary valve is un-obtainable, what would you recommend?, or do I just search for one.

Bill

I am sure they can give you any information you need. The installation is real simple. Takes only a few minutes. The whole package just bolts to the rear axle.

I would only use the factory valve. I waited 6 months myself to find the right valve. They are available if you want to spend $300-$400 right away.

Factory valve is it. I'm I certain that without the factory fast hitch, I do not have the auxilary valve? or do I still need to look for evidence of one? If not ... any recommendations on where to start looking? And if I realy get impatent where is the $300 one? Thanks Brian

Central Tractor has them. They are in Des Moines Iowa. Phone number toll free 1-888-828-3276.

I think Bates that advertises here also has them.

Peter at Wisconsin Tractor Parts (wisconsintractor@appletonnet.com 1-877-530-2010) had one for $275. Give him a try.
