OK first let me admit that I grew up in the city and recently moved out into the country. I am restoring a '35 F12 and love learning as much about the farm and country life as I can. So next I have a question, how exactly are moldboard plows measured? I know what 1-2-or 3 bottoms means etc. I have an old steel wheeled two bottom trailing plow here at the house but don't know how to determine the size. Thanks for your help and input as always it is greatly appreciated. Brian

Brian,
if you measure inbetween the main beams that the bottoms attach to, that distance is the width, for instance 2-14's 2 bottoms 14 inches wide .. try it out!

Brian: It's the width of the amount of ground that a single bottom will take while plowing. A single 14 inch bottom should cut a 14 inch wide slice..etc. have fun. harvey

All of the above are correct, however to be more specific, measure the distance between the landslide, the straight part on the bottom of the plow, and the widest distance on the plow share, the curved part.
