As usual, I have bumbled onto a tractor when I least need one and can least afford one, but curiosity has the better of me. I have found a W-400, which I know is the descendent from the W-6 series. I have not seen the tractor, but he says it has not TA and no hydraulics. I thought the W-400 would have both.

Also, and I know everyone kind of hates these questions...what would a complete, running example in "fair" condition bring? I know all the disclaimers about location, condition and tires.

I happen to own a W400 and a 400, both diesels and both have TA and hydraulics. This was standard on these models. Is the one your looking at a Diesel? I think these are excellent machines. Probably worth $2500 if it is in good shape. Check the TA alot of them don't work anymore.

You could order the W-400 without hydraulics and TA if you wanted. Check to see if it is a Wheatland setup- kinda sounds like it. Bigger fenders, different platform, etc.

Guy...the person advertised it as a W-400 utility, but when I called him he said that he had already been corrected on that point and he did mention that it was "sort of a wheatland" tractor, so you may be right as to what it is.

Without hydraulics and TA, what type of implements would it use? It sounds like a neat tractor to have but it would end up being a "Barn Queen" without hydraulics and TA...

They would have been pulling big, clutch lift implements like disc and moldboard plows, harrows, and grain drills.
