Farmall M charging and discharging????

Farmall M
rebuilt generator, rebuilt starter, new regulator.
Now getting a charge, before wasn't, BUT half thottle charges ok. less than half starts to discharge, lights on discharges, bright lights discharges even more!!! Have only three postions on switch off, dim, bright. battery ignition 6V system
age of machine unkown plate is gone. I am new at this working on tractor stuff; this is the machine i learned to farm with(busted fingers and all(narrow front end plowed fields, etc.)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!! have to leave now will not be able to check back till later this evening or tomorrow a.m. Thanks in advance.

Al remove the cover from the voltage regulator. I bet the points are opening up too early as you decrease the engine RPM. You can make an adjustment on the spring tension so you charge at lower RPMs. Make only a very minor adjustment or the points might stay closed after you shut down resulting in a battery being drained very quickly.

I have the same thing going on with my C, it also has a rebuilt starter,generator,and a new regulator,but mine is 12v. So can someone help me out also..... thanks,and I hope you get some replies too Al
