I purchased this tractor running great. After it sat a while it now only runs if I mist the carb or air intake with gas. I think it has an intake manifold manifold leak and will not pull the gas/air mixture through the updraft carb. I cxannot find the leak. I have several implements with it and all the Hydraulics work. Where in eastern Massachusetts can I get it worked on? If not Mass what about NH or Maine? What year is it?
What is it worth and do you in the know think it is better to sell it to a collector and buy something newer to use at my camp up north. (Mow and till fields and drag wood main needs) Any info greatly appreciated.

AR, Welcome to the Red World. Sounds like you have a 1960 Cub Low-Boy. Most International tractors are easy to work on and a lot of parts still are around. NAPA and your local Case/IH dealer are just a couple of places to get parts. If a manual did not come with the tractor you should get one at Case/IH or Binder Books. Good Luck, stR

StR, Thanks for all the help, my next step is to get a manual and rebuild the carb and try to get it running again, I have complate confidence in the fact that it will someday work at my camp in Maine. I even have plans now to make it a little prettier and paint it at my friends auto body shop.. Andy

Village Power in Berlin, MA always seems to have a couple of Cubs in their shop at any given time. They have some kind of junior dealership arrangement with Case/IH and can get parts. They have a large inventory of NOS and salvage parts. I like doing business there. Berlin is near Worcester and about 2.5 hours from Chatham. "J" stands for Rockford clutch and "U" stands for high altitude. Considering that most of Cape Cod is no higher than 60 feet above sea level, I would assume that you have a Rockford clutch.

AR, Need the number after the "U" in the serial number to determine the year. Is this a Cub Lo-Boy or a Cub 154 Lo-Boy ?

Sammy the Red, Thanks for the reply, The markers on each side of the tractor just say CUB LOBOY, The VIN plate to the lower front right side on the tractor just appears to have the number 13218 U or 13218 J, there is a dent on the letter but I believe it to be a "U", no other letter follows ar appears to have ever followed. How will I determine if it is a CUB LOBOY or CUB LOBOY 154? I know the tractor was used at a "hobby farm" in Chatham Mass. for many years and was sold when the owners son took over control of the property and sold off everything. It has turf tires and several implements, a three point hitch and a series of belts and pulleys off the rear axle. I know by my answers you have determined I know little about this or other tractors but I would like to learn. I can and do fix my own cars, trucks and boat, I have some mechanical ability, sadly no expeirence (yet) with tractors. I bought this tractor about 3-4 years ago, just retired and now have the time and need for it. THANKS..Andy

If it fires when you shoot some mist, I doubt the mainfold is your problem. It could be a stuck float needle in the carburetor or you are not getting a good gas flow from the gas tank to the carburetor.

to "The Red", Thanks for the reply, I have taken the carburetor apart and cleaned it and put it on several times, can find nothing wrong with it, hiwever the needle looks OK but worn, I may need a new seat, do you know where I can get a re-build kit? Are there any places like JC Whitneys for old tractors? I have checked the gas flow from the tank to the carb and there seems to be PLENTY of gas, it just flows great. Am I correct in thinking by the serial number it is a 1948 Loboy?
