Fred, tell us more about the Garret Twin Drive. Is it a skid steer? Maybe it was steered with the TA's and brakes. Where does the front axel get its power? Are the engines locked together? What is the power connection on the rear axel? Will it fit on my trailer?

For those of you who did not bother to open Fred's photopoint album, this tractor is two 400s coupled side by side. You might want to take a look.

I would like to see Fred take some more pictures and share them with us. I would also like to see Guy Fay do a book on all this oddball stuff.

I'll try and get back there and take some more photos next week, if I can remember. Best I can tell is it's a skid steer, with the front axle driven by some mechanism hidden in the bowels of the center section of the tractor. My guess would be chain drive. It sits at the location of the Garrett dealer about 8 miles from my place. Garrett is, or at least was a major manufacturer of log skidders used in this area (Western Washington).

And yeah, I want it, too. ;o)

That's a rare one. In 1941, with the onset of WWII, IH did some test marketing to women, assuming that the men would be in Europe fighting the war for several years. They came up with the idea of painting tractors in pastel colors and calling them "Lady Farmall". Only a very few were produced before dealers and customers nixed the idea. This is one of the surviving Lady Farmall B's. I call her Babe, after Paul Bunyan's ox.

I've never heard of that before, very interesting. Is that original paint, or did you restore it and repaint it?

Try www.tractortips.com. They have a photo in the specs section for IH, 300.
