Friends 130 that is running 6V is having a problem. I posted a message about a week ago and was told to check the voltage on the resistor and it should be around 7V, well he says he's only getting 5-5.5V, and also it will be running fine like when cutting the grass and he'll shut it off and sometimes if he tries to start it right away, it just sits there and cranks and cranks, he usually ends up hand cranking it and it will eventually start and run very ruff. It coughs and sputters then it runs fine then sputters a little more etc. Sorry for length, just trying to explain it as best I can being an outside party to the situation, Thanks....Brian

I just helped a friend get an old Ford pickup running better. It turns out that you need to get that coil voltage up closer to 7 volts with tractor running in order to get a good hot spark. Also, be sure that your points are very clean so that the contact closure is very crisp. If there is oil or some other debrise in the point contacts, it is impossible to get a good hot spark

I don't recall the earlier responses. I bet that coil is breaking down when it is getting hot.
