I have owned this 340 Utility for about a year. From the time I purchased it seems to only operate in the Torque-Amplified or low range. No matter where the shift lever is positioned, the tractor does not change operations. I purchased a video on repairing the T/A with the intent of spltting the tractor and making necessary repairs. But the video seems to address slippage when the T/A is engaged - not the problem I am having. Am I looking at an adjustment problem or does the problem warrant opening the tractor? Any comments are appreciated.

The problem is in the TA clutch. I've seen the bolts fall out of the presure plate to weak springs in presure plate or also your clutch and TA flywheel could have blown up.

Jim, Thanks for your response. I have doing some other work to the tractor. It appears my next project will be to go into the T/A.

Hello Asa, I just bought a 340 U. Please tell me how your TA engages? I have a pull rod lever on the right side about even with center of seat. Is that it?

The T/A on mine is a lever on the left with a lock release lever on the grip. It resembles a parking brake lever on some of the old medium and heavy duty trucks.

That sir, should be your PTO control. The TA is a vertical lever, left side, near foot clutch.

Hello Tom, someone else said that too but I don't have a PTO. This one has a Pippin loader/hoe. Maybe it came with a PTO and someone took it off and capped the diff. What a shame if they did. I haven't gotten my books yet to see. I don't have a TA it looks like.
