The manual calls for 10-38 tires. Can I assume 11-38's will work? How wide can I go without any trouble?

My Super H sports a pair of 15.5 X 38s on stock rims...Yikes!!! I can't wait to get her in road gear and see how fast she is....maybe we can start a new sport...instead of tractor pulling we could have tractor racing!!!

Or tractor flipping, an extreme sport.

I have H's with 12.4, 13.6, and 14.9 tires. 14.9 looks funny on a 10 inch rim. I use 13.6 and 14.9 on my M's, and try to stay with 12.4 on H's for appearance.

The bigger the tire the faster you go in road gear, and the less power you have in pulling gears. My wife clocked me at 20 mph on my M with 14.9's towing an implement. That is too fast for safety on an M.

I've got 12.4 x 38's on my Super H w/stock rims. Father in law has 14.9 x 38's on his Super H - not certain if they are on stock rims however.

Rims came in 3 sizes during the H production years. The early ones had 9 inch, then 10s and 11s became available. I put on 11s on the 1951H I rebuilt last year. The price difference at Miller was only $10 or so for the larger rim.

The old 11 x 38 are now numbered 12.4 x 38. I have 12.4 x 38 on my 2 Hs.

Try Firestone's website for the correct sizes for tires on what rim. It sure explained it to me.

Just out of interest, about half of Australian farmalls are on 28 inch rears. I havent seen many pics of US farmalls on 28s.
