The distributor on my H has a lot of play at the breaker cam shaft . What is the recommeded play for this ? This thing really is loose .
The houseing is nice and tight .
I was going to try and run it and see if the timeing is stable with a timeing light .
any ideas ?
Thanks everyone

The play is directly between the post and breaker cam assembly for the timeing advance . looks like a bushing can be replaced in the hole for the breaker cam part . the caseing accually is perfect , no play at all .
I might not of been to clear on my previous note

I don't know if there is a bushing in there that can be replaced or not. The parts manual doesn't show one.

Hi Bob, There's nothing that says you can't have a bushing made for it if it don't have one or make one yourself. Depends on whats cheaper. Rebuilt or the bushing.

Bob the distributor housing is worn. There should be no lateral play. Set the points around .017 to ensure they will close. My neighbor's M distributor has been worn like that for years and it runs fine. Eventually the distributor housing will need to be replaced.
