I wanted to tell you guys that I recently purchased (officially) my Grandpa's 1940 Farmall A (serial number 40919. It has been sitting for around 8 years now, but it has been in a totally enclosed shed and I have been giving it a few cranks religiously so that it is not locked up. Tires still have air in them and the tin is about %85. It ran when it was parked where it sits and after my Grandpa passed away, it wasn't really needed anymore. Yesterday, I officially bought it and all its equipment. I bought it for $800 and my Dad said I could have his share of the little machine, bringing my out of pocket cost to a mere $533. That includes the tractor, cultivater, planter and fertilizer boxes, diskplow, two JD disk harrows, a drum type scraper, a corn stalk chopper, dump hay rake, and a frozen up pull type sickle mower. I can't help but smile when I think about a deal like that! I am pretty sure it isn't getting any spark, so where should I start? I plan to drain the fluids, etc., to get it is running shape, but where should I start to get it sparking and then running? (Kind of a broad question, I know, but I gotta start somewhere)
