Been trying for a week now to get farmall started, replaced carb. in early spring with a new replacement carb. Just put on another manifold, has newer plugs, new coil last year, compression and timing check out ok, have a good gas flow to the carb, cleaned plugs, checked spark plug wires. It cranks and cranks, doesn't seem to be getting gas to the cylinders. Have heard that the new replacement carbs are no good???? It was running fine earlier in summer, then started running rough occasionally , last time i had it started, ran ok until i engaged mower, then ran real rough, couldn;t keep her running. Been down hill since then. Any ideas ????? thanks.

Two Things

My cub had a bad kill switch (went from run bad to not runing)

With my new carb have to trun off gas and only turn on just a little to keep from fluding

Is your float sticking? How come you replaced your old carb? Want to sell it?

I have trouble with my Cub spark plugs failing while sitting, I assume from absorbing moisture. They look OK but aren't. I don't seem to have the problem on other tractors.

Pull one and lay it on the head hooked to the wire and see if you can see a spark. Or just replace them.

I pulled mine two miles one day trying to start it because I was too stubborn to change the plugs, which I always have on the shelf. I thought the ones in it were too new, but they were bad.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Replaced plugs and drained gas tank and put new gas in, got her started!!! As soon as I pop the clutch with the blades engaged, it stalls. ???? Don't know much about the governor, any suggestions?

I had the same thing happen to me with my SA. Turned out one of the bearings had seized up on the mower and the blade just would not turn. Every time I let out the clutch it just died. You might try disconnecting the belt and see if it works ok without the drag of the mower. If so look to the mower.

Hey Andy:

Be careful checking the plug with it sitting on top of the head...the fuel/air mixture will be expelled from the plug hole and may ignite.
