Hydraulic Oil Leaks on 806

I have an 806 and have a couple hydraulic oil leaks. One appears to be on the rear of the tractor near where the 2 point hitch system connects to the tractor. Specifically, the location appears to be where on a traditional 3 point system, the hitch arms connect to the tractor. Another leak is under the steel floorboard where your feet rest. The leak appears to be coming out around the shaft that goes into the transmission from the Hi/Lo/Neutral Shift lever. Any help would be appreciated..

Andy, your hitch leak is probably the O-rings on the draft sensing torsion mechanism. I just replaced them on my 706 (one of several pre-paint job leak fixes.) In a nutshell, you will need to unhook the hitch linkage from the bellcranks, and drain the trans and rear end (about 15 gallons.) You will then need to remove the inspection cover above the pto, then drop the pto unit (~200lb, be careful with the pick-up tube.) This lets you unhook the control linkage from the torsion tube. Remove the 2 small bolts and retainer bracket on the LH side, and the LH bellcrank should come off. There's one small and one large O-ring on that side. You can then slide the RH bellcrank/torsion tube out and replace the one large O-ring on that side. It all goes back together in reverse order. You might want some help removing and re-installing the pto unit, it's not easy for one person.

Andy, first of all you need to clean things up so you can be sure of where the leak is coming from. Once you know that, I suggest you call Ken Updike. He runs a Case IH repair outfit and I regard him as an expert in these matters. He restored an 806 himself and knows them thoroughly. He will help you solve the problem and ship you the parts to fix it. He is in Wisconsin and his phone number is 608 455-2411.

It just so happens that I currently have a hydraulic leak that is coming from one of the auxiliary valves on my 806. These valves are located under the seat, and could also be the source of one of your leaks. I called Ken Updike, and he shipped me the parts needed to rebuild the valve. This included O-rings and a replacement detent piston for $14.49 which includes shipping. I have already disassembled the valve and installed the O-rings and detent piston on the valve spool. All went OK so far. This weekend I plan to reinstall the valve spool in the valve and see how it works.

Good luck on your leaks and let us know how it turns out.
