THE STEERING IS LOOSE ON THE A ALSO HOW CAN i TIGHTEN IT?

All the loose play may not be in the steering box. Check the tie rod ends and the set bolts on the upper spindle assemblies. Wheel bearing could be loose or worn too. Good luck.

Check the arm where it bolts around the shaft beneath the steering box.

A few years a old Dad and I were going to fix the front end of his A. We went to the IHC dealer to buy parts. the parts man brought out a sealed bag for $20. I suggested to my Dad we check what was in the bag. Only a thick washer, a castel nut and cottter key. We did not buy the bag, instead we went to the hardware store and spent Less than $1. Placement of the washer will depend on the location of the play.
