First, got the F12 running and drove her straight up and down a hill in my yard, I noticed when I stopped in the driveway that it was dumping oil out the rear of the oil pan or maybe the rear main seal. what do you guys think? It has new rear main seal and new oil pan gasket on it. If you must know why I drove it on the hill I wanted to test the reaction of the govenor and the clutch, plus I was so excited about it running I was driving it everywhere in the yard I could (I know not to transverse a hill sideways).

Second, I am going to try to post a picture of it along with this message, never done it before so bear with me. also note it is not done just has temporary gas tank on it to get it running before I paint.

My F-14 leaks around that #(%()*# Felt rear main seal. Not enough to motivate me to tear it apart and try to fix it, just enough to be aggravating.

I suspect this is a function of the felt seals, and some leakage is to be expected. Then again, I could just be rationalizing 'cuz I'm too lazy to fix it right...

I think every felt seal leaks. I put a rope rear main seal from a small block Ford in mine. We'll see how it works.

Nice looking tractor!

My '35 F12 in similar shape, but I have the engine mostly apart. Wheels are painted red, primer on most of the rest. It will be grey, like yours.

Keep posting pics when you make progress. Like JRM says, we need inspiration.

The oil leak could be several things, rear main seal, oil pan gasket, or the gasket between the block and bellhousing. The oil pan gaskets tend to move around as you tighten them and I had to put mine in twice. The cork gasket that goes on the back end of the oil pan for my tractor was to long and had to be cut down to fit. Post pictures, I'd appreciate seeing yours. I have mine apart for restoration and need some motivation to finish.

Brian, I can help with posting a picture, but don't have any better idea of the oil leak than what you described already.

To post a picture, follow these steps:

1. put the picture somewhere on the web, in jpg format. Your website, photopoint.com, a friend's website etc. You can't upload the picture directly to this website - it doesn't work that way.

2. get on the ytmag.com forum you want to post to.

3. type your message, as normal. Fill the "optional image url" box with the full web address of your picture: >Link

4. After submitting the post, make sure you can see the picture in the preview window. Then click post and you are done.

Let's see your new toy!
