Is this a #8 Little Genius or something else. I got it 2 weeks ago with a John Deere A. Tractor isn't exactly in good running shape, but the plow does a dandy job. I gave the old H that's in a post just below this one a good work out with it when I got it. I also picked up a another like it last year at a sale, but it has steel wheels and slatboards. Otherwise the same. What might it be also. Thanks Bill {Antique Acres}

Bill, congratulations on the new baby. You might want to look on one of the plow shares and see if the number starts with a DB_____, it looks a lot like my plow which I thought was an IH until I learned that it was a David Bradley. Good luck, MIke S. (WA)

It is deffintely a IH plow. I collect IH stuff and made sure before I got it. It has it stamped everywhere. I would probably would have not taken it otherwise, not because I am picky. Because I started too many auction bids at a $1.00 and ended up with too many other plows. So now I have to be a little picky. Bill {Antique Acres}

The two bottom plow that I just bought is quite similar to this. I looked at one of the parts and it was stamped with PO17184. Does anyone know how to locate a 'manual' for this? Also, as long as I have tagged onto Bills message, could someone please tell me at what hight the coulters need to be, and should I take them off and sharpen them? I just tried to plow and spent more time pulling out compacted weeds/stems than actual plowing.

Bill, I can't tell for sure from the pic., but as Guy Fay said on an earlier post below, if it is a Little Genius, many of the parts will have a part # cast into the part and the biggest % of them will start with PO. Check the beams.

The P & O stands for Porter & Ornfield I believe. The plows were made at the IHC Canton plant. I used to order/expedite parts from that plant to the FARMALL tractor plant in Rock Island IL. I drove down to Canton one Sunday to look over the plant. (To see why I couldn't get parts actually) and the plant was old and Rustic. About a block south of downtown Canton. Building still had P & O Plow works painted on the front wall. Most of the plant has been taken down now. I belive there were pictures printed in Red Power Magazine of the plant about 6 mo. ago. Friend I worked with at FARMALL had worked at the Canton plant. His Dad was Capatin of the Plant Guard. I guess back in the ate 40's and 50's that plant used to use & ship as much iron & steel as anyother IHC plant in existance. Got their steel in off the ILL river by barge. Had a 20 acre steel yard outside of town to store raw material in. In about 1979 & 1980 IH transfered a bunch of components for the FARMALL tractors from the East Moline plant to Cantor. Things like battery boxes & Cab steps. Canton Also started making the front 2X2 weldments complete instead of just making the component parts.
