Was interested in the seal for the rear PTO . The old seal had a unit
like sheetmetal containing two seals and spacers with rubber washer like seals in it. The dealer said only one seal was called to replace the seal . I put two in anyway .
Just was curious about the original setup .
thanks all

Bob,
When I recently replaced the PTO shaft seal on my M, the kit came with two "lip" seals and a gasket for the housing to trans surfaces. The original leather seal was about 1" to 1 1/2" thick and the double seal arrangement works well. I think you did the right thing using two seals.

My 2¢,
Phil

Hi-Bob I just went through the same thing. That big 'double seal' is the correct old one, I replaced with 2 new ones from the dealership. Works just fine. Paul+

Bob I do the same thing with the PTO and the bullcage seals. The originals had the double seals in one cage. I always stick in 2 of the single type.
