OK...I know that this is probably a shot in the dark because there were not too many I-4s made, but what might a good one go for? I stumbled onto one that was owned by a local foundry up until 1 year ago when it was purchased by a tree cutting business in a package deal.

The owner seemed to know almost nothing about tractors, but said it was in good condition, had very good tires and ran when parked a year ago. It has sat outside for the last year.

I'm looking at it tomorrow. He wants $650 and says this is about his bottom dollar. This would be the third non running IH I have bought (unless it cranks right up) if I do the deal...what do you IH guys think??? What is it worth? I'll post a description tomorrow...thanks...BB

Hey guys...Here is an I-4 update...

The thing was a piece of JUNK...This tractor should be on a poster showing everything that should never be done to ANY tractor, no matter what color it is. If this thing ran a year ago I'll eat the coil off my Super H.

Sorry to get everybody so stirred up. I told the guy if someone happens to offer him $200 for it, he should take it, but it wouldn't come from me. I'm still looking...BB

Well...I wasn't happy about the wasted time and miles. I guess this guy just didn't know any better. He probably thinks a restored tractor is similar to a restored car in value (I wish) and that you can afford to hunt down and buy all the sheetmetal, seat, battery box, tires, etc. and still not loose money. This may be the state of the antique tractor market in 50 years or so, but not now....

On a side note, after talking to people on the phone and then actually seeing what we were talking about, the words "new" "excellent" "good" "runs" or even "fair" mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people....BB

BB,
I'd grab that I-4 in a heartbeat, even if I had to take out a loan! Now that I've calmed down a bit, let us know what it looks like. I don't expect it to be in showroom condition, but you never know.

I would buy it in a heart beat at that price if it's not stuck.they are basicly the same as a w4.I saw one in penna last month that had a farmall H circle decal on it looked like it came from the factory that way.
