I am thinking of buying a IH 400. It runs OK(not the best, but I've seen worse), needs all new rubber, and it is it's kind of gear noisy. It has a recent paint job(about a year ago.) Who ever painted it did a VERY BAD job. Lots of runs an overspray on hoses, gauges, tires, etc. I was wondering what a reasonable price would be. Thanks.

Brandon, I live in Arkansas and purchased a 400 about a year ago for $1800.00. Low side T.A. out, needs paint, brakes and steering needed work. The plus side is good tires, fast hitch( 3 point too ) remotes wide front. The propane engine is strong and runs and starts good. I put new brake disc and thrust bearing and am very pleased. I worked it hard this weekend and it did great. I hope this helps. Let us know what decide.

I would try to find out the oil pressure and see if its smoking or not. Is the TA good? Also, check the hydraulics to see if they are working and does it have a Fast-hitch or not?

It doesn't smoke. The TA's shot. It carries good oil pressure. It doesn't have a fast hitch.

Well if just the low side of the TA is out, you can still use it. But if the whole thing is shot, then you are going to have an expensive job ahead of you.

Well I'm not real sure on what ta tell ya bout the price, but I think around $1200 would be about the most in the condition you described.
