I'm rebuilding M Farmall engine. Noticed who ever worked on engine last did not line up single punch mark on camshaft gear with single punch mark on crankshaft gear - it's one tooth off. Is there a reason they did this or did they just not take the time to line up properly? When I assemble again should I line it up properly or leave as is? THANKS!!!

The timing was advanced one tooth which equals about 7 degrees.Thiss was done to further boost the low end power. It works. If it ran well before like this I would put it back in the same way. I just finished my Super M a month ago and I did the same thing.

Brent, Do yourself a favor and line it up properly like the manual says. If you ever sell it and someone else has to work on it we will probably see another post just like yours. The marks are there for a reason like the manual says. Good luck with the M.//FB
