The Model 'A' is plenty for 5 acres. You'll need a single bottom plow that fits the Farmall and a disc. You should be able to plow about an 1/2 acre per hour taking it easy next spring when the soil is damp but not soaking.

According to the Nebraska tests they were right at 17 hp at the drawbar. We plant food plots from 1/2 acre up to 5 or so acres by just disking the soil and then broadcast fertilizing and planting of clover and wheat.

As to whether the Super A is up to the task, I think so, given enough time. In the days when they were used by farmers, I think they were marketed to people with 80-100 acres.

When we go into virgin soil with a fair amount of vegitation, it can take hours of disking (we could probably go quicker if we plowed it first). We used a different color tractor with 3 pt hitch for the disk and spreader. If you go the Super A route, you may want to add a 3 pt hitch for the spreader.

If you go with more than a few food plots though, you may want a bigger tractor to cover more ground or keep the plots disked year aroung if the land isn't unde CRP...BB
