The old rubber shims were shot . So I bought some neoprene rubber sheet to make the new mounts with .
Is there a height ? or just eye ball the radiator support rod and center that in the hole in the radiator? Would like to do this once and have the sheet metal fit .
Thanks

My Radiator has a little history , It was leaking at the mounting studs . One of the the radiator shop made a 1/8 " thick plate and soldered that over the hole . The other one the stud and hole was good , So that stud was soldered solid . You cant take the tank apart without needing a new core . Thats why we went the cheap way .
I put two 1/8" thick neoprene/cloth rubber and one 1/8" thick for the side with the plate . Seems fine for the steering shaft . Was a pain putting those in soldered like that ... Hope it holds . Maby this will save someone getting a new core ...

Bob!

I just got through remounting my refurbished radiator on my "H" and was taught another life's lesson. I had cut rubber washers from out of the smooth side of auto tires sidewalls and used two. That was a mistake. I had to take the second pair out as they caused the steering shaft to rub against the tunnel of the raditor's top pan. Red had it probably right on, but clearance for the shaft will be the determining factor.

Hey Bob, I just cut what I need from any stock on hand. I have used innertube rubber, and other pieces I have found at hardware stores, junk piles, etc..even old rubber mats. All these parts flex and move during use, so perfect alignment isn't critical, but it is nice to have for a better fit and appearance. Eyeballing a parts is good enough. Remember the clearances they used back then were a long way from what is considered ideal today. (not to say that the new stuff works any better) gn
