On one of the B farmalls I recently acquired,it has a cast iron gear shift nob on it.The nob has the old IH logo cast in the center,as well as the numbers 9637,was that a factory item for the B? The super C has a badly stuck engine.Would a C-135 engine out of a 275 swather fit without altering it,or should I fix up something older?

the 135 engine will work but will have a dipstick for the oil and will be missing a bolt hole and a round piece of cast on the right side where the starter goes on the swather (it goes in opposite from the tractor) it will also up your hp especially if you go to a 154

The cast iron shift knobs were used for a while during the worst of the WWII rubber shortage.

Thank you for your comments. I have installed C-113 engines in As before, and found the same starter difference.I was more concerned with the different water pumps and fan location.
