i hav e a 53 cub and every time i get it on more than a 20 degree angle water come pouring out of the radiator at the overflow hole. yes i do have a cap on it, it seems to be the original cap. do i need a biger cap that will go past the hole? another qusetion, how do i remove the air filter form the oil bath? does it unscrew or just slipped up in there? thanks...

You might be trying to keep too much coolant in it.

You probably have a non pressure radiator. I know the Super As had only an overflow and were not pressurized. If you decide to seal it off, you need to use a pressure type cap, so it can relieve if it gets too hot. If you just cap it off, you may burst the radiator. With the non pressure radiator and the overflow, it's normal to lose some coolant. You have to add regularly. As to the air cleaner; don't try to take the metal screens out of the can. They are pressed in. If you need to clean them, soak the whole thing in solvent such as kerosine or mineral spirits. Don't use gasoline! Normally, the screens on an oil bath air cleaner don't need any cleaning.

radiator cap should extend below the overflow hole and seat on the flange in the filler neck.as to theoil bath I would soak the whole thing in solvent rather than taking it apart. they can be a real pain to get back together.

I had the same problem on my '49 cub and finially sweated a copper fitting into the filler neck and capped it off. The best thing I ever did. I mow 4-acres with a woods 59 and the tractor runs flat out most all the time. I would loose the antifreeze especially going down hill. After the fix I seldom add coolant.
