What is the difference between a stanard or a R/C (row crop?) Farmall 560. I am trying to order an owners manual and two versions are listed.

A farmall 560 (R.C.)would have a fast hitch you would set up farley high on a platform like an M and it
would have Farmall name plates an International 560 (std)you would set down lower you would not have a fast hitch and you would have International
name plates on the manual i think a Farmall 460,
Farmall 560,and a International 560 are all in the same manual

Not all Row crop IHC trators Had Farmall In big letters on the hood when the 56 models came out they had INTERNATIONAL on the hood with FARMALL but the number decal this was because of international trade it was throught making them all have a standard name would be better

Do the rear wheels adjust width? Does the emblem farmall appear on the side of the tractor? If yes, it is a row crop. If it had a narrow front, then it was a row crop model.

All Farmalls are row crop tractors. The Farmall 560 usually has 38" rear wheels on adjustable axles and can have either a tricycle dual front, a tricycle single front wheel or a wide front axle. It is designed to give good crop clearance in row crops. The standard version of the 560 is the International 560. It sits lower to the ground, usually with 28" rear wheels and only has a wide front axle, different from the Farmall wide front axle, which gives it a shorter wheel base. Depending on the part of the country you are in, the International can be called; a wheel tractor, a standard tractor, or a wheatland tractor.

Generally speaking, in the USA, from the 20's to the 80's, all IHC row crop tractors were Farmall. All IHC standard/wheel/wheatland tractors were McCormick Deering then McCormick then International, but never Farmall. All IHC industrial tractors were International.

The main difference between the two is body design. The standard 560 is generally a wide axle tractor that is lower to the ground. The row crop 560 is a tricycle design (front wheels are close together). It also has a higher clearance than the standard 560.

Is there a way I can ID this fromthe serial number? The former owner told me this was originally a narrow front tractor and he had a wide front off a junked 560 put on.

Well then there's your answer. If it originally had a narrow front end, and was changed over to a wide front, then it is a rowcrop. Does it have 38" rear wheels? As Harold says, rowcrops had 38"s , standards have 28"s or 30"s maybe.
