You could probably put about any engine of similar
size in if you have the time and money. I have seen many with V-8 car engines. I also know a guy who built one for tractor pulling with an IH
built DT-466 6 cyl engine. (basically the same engine as a 1066 and 1466 used).

Bob,

The best example I know of ,of what is essentially a Super M, is the B-450 which we sold in the 60's. It looked just like and was basicly a Super M with a modern 3 point hitch and a International built direct start 4 cylinder engine. It was made in England and imported and sold in the South. I don't know about other areas of the country.

On one of the calenders this year, they had a picture of an M converted to diesel. It was a kit put out by Porsch and didn't go over real big because of the price. I think they said the kit was $1,700.

All: The calendar has it for MAY. It says it was a SHEPPARD diesel three cyl. kit cost $1186 back in 1948 and the M was selling at $2346 so it was not the cheap way to go but.. There was one at a the Pioneer Power threashing show near Jordan,MN. The engine was designed to be very simple to service..so the info says..hope this helps. Harvey

i worked several years at an ih farm eqipment dealer as a mechanic never heard of such a conversion but you may want to consider the model 4-108 perkins 4cyl verses the 3 cyl i know both engines very well and feel it would work betterjust pay close attention to the bell housing bolt pattern

In Guy Fay's book he makes referance to a 3 cylinder desiel in an M. I think that it would work.
Let us know that happens.
