I recieved an OLD IRON 2001 calendar in month of Sept arestoration on a 1940 H with orig steel and asunken deck like 1939 H. States this is a rare tractor. does anyone have more info. on this type of tractor or what to look for. The calendar states that 1250 were made. I have a 1940 H with sunken deck but no steel. Most of the casting letters are J except the deck and the manifold which is the letter I". Thanks PS Ser. Nos.?

I used to have an early 1940 H with the '39 styling. There were approximately 5000 of them made, so they really are not a rare tractor. Actually most people would actually want a true '39 H or M.. There are so many things that are different on the '39s than on the later production Hs and Ms. Actually most of the early Hs and Ms that I have seen on steel, actually have the later style steel wheels that are of heavier construction than the originals.
