Have 1950 M have pulled it some in the past . tractor has M&W overhaul kit and governer and larger carb kit but i still need more power. thinking about boring block larger and matching pistons to fit; anyone know how large i can go before hiting water ? Or any other way too help get more power out of an IH M.

That's a real challenge. Higher compression would help. Increasing displacement would be a sure fire winner. Hire someone to make a stroker crank for you. Maybe even some refinements in the carburetor department would help. Bring all that into the proper relationship and you can be king. What will you do though, when somebody with more money to spend than good sense out-pulls you? Here goes another good hobby!

Bob,
You're headed in the right direction.
1: More cubic inches.
2: More compression.
3: Bigger carb with bigger jets.
4: Porting/polishing the head and port matching the intake/exhaust manifold to the head. Also extrusion machining the insides of the manifolds.
5: Nitrous oxide (This could be difficult to do within the rules).
