Could anyone tell me what type of oil I should be using and how do I check the level? Thanks in advance.

In northern MN where we use our tractors, the temp goes from +95 to -30F. If an engine is in reasonably good shape and clean inside multi-viscosity oils work very well. depending on temp and engine clearances anything from 5w30 to 10w40.

I use Chevron Delo 400 30W in all my tractors. Of course, being in Central Texas, our winters are pretty mild. You might want to use 20W or even 10W in the winter, depending on your climate. Using a single type of oil in all the tractors keeps things less complicated, and I can buy at a better price when I buy in quantity. The biggest thing with whatever oil you decide to use is quality. Use a quality oil and you will never have an oil related failure in your equipment.

I use 30 wt non detergent in both of my H's. I buy my oil at Tractor Supply. So far it has been very successful. On the right side of the oil pan there are two petcocks. One is the about a half inch higher than the other. If oil runs out of the lower one when you open it your oil level is OK. If it runs out of the top one it is full. When changing the oil I open both petcocks and when it begins to run out of the lower I close it and add until it runs out of the top one. It takes somewhere around a quart or less after it begins to run out of the lower one until it is full. Ed
