I know this isnt the exact place, but I thought more people with knowledge of IH look here. This is also in garden tractors forum. we have a 107 hydro that has a Drive/release lever on it. we got the motor running and I hoped up on and put it in reverse. nothing. foreward, nothing. not even a whine (my 1250 will whine) like all hydros I've driven do. we filled rearend full of hy-tran and tried again. still nothing. is the release my problem? were these troublesome? I wonder, as my 1250 dose not have a release. BTY we found a piece of broken spring steel in the bottom of the fan housing. Is that from release? thanks a million.

If the metal you found looks like it should pin to a shaft the diameter of the release lever, it is probably the part of the release.

First make sure you don't have a driveshaft roll pin sheared. There are pins on both ends of the shaft. They have to be the spiral (rolled up) type. A regular spring pin (single wall) won't hold up.

If the roll pins are all in and it still won't move at all, the relief valves are most likely stuck open. They are pushed down by the release lever in "Release" position. They sit on top the hydro unit at the front, just behind the charge pump. Each has a fairly large hex head (~7/8") with a small plunger that should be sticking up 1/8" or so. If the tops of the plungers are flush with the tops of the valves, take the valves out and free them up, that should get you moving again.

Also, check out the Cub Cadet forum below - great site.
