In adding power to steering , what is the difference between adding power assist steering and regular power steering to a Farmall 350

What ever you do abane try not to have to make sheet metal modifications to your 350. A previous owner who put a Char-Lynn unit on my 400 cut a piece off of the the fan guard to get pulley clearance for the pump unit, and cut a hole in the hood to get access to the reservoir. Non-factory holes in an antique tractors do not increase their value.

You can still buy the Char-Lynn "torque amplifier" units new through an Eaton dealer. I saw an A-C WD45 with this type system on it a while back. Used a P/S pump from a Ford F600 truck with a seperate reservoir and a Honda trans filter. All hidden under the hood except the torque unit in the steering shaft. Looked great and worked that way too!

assist steering involves a cylinder and does not fit on steering shaft and power steering units have to be put on the steering shaft.a tractor supply store near here used to sell the power assist units but went out of business.
