I think Wardner may be wrong. You can't see the leaf spring screw through the timing cover hole. Call me 641 847 2731. Its easier to explain on the phone.

I defer to you Les. The procedure I described works on Stanadyne pumps. Both types of pumps look similar from the outside so I figured they were similar on the inside.

Yep Les, I have a 6.9 F350 with Hypermax turbo, altered intake and exhaust, cab controled ignition timing, and propane injection. It goes pretty good, probably better than a late Powerstroke.

All right I will take a whack at this seeing as nobody else has. Even though I have a 660 I have not done this. You need to remove a rectangular plate (5/8 x 1 1/4) on the side of the pump. It is held on by two machine screws. Rotate the motor slowly until you see a deep hole. At the bottom of the hole will be an allen-head screw. Probably 5/32 socket. It will require maybe 25-40 ft-lbs to turn. Turn clockwise to increase fuel. Start by turning only 60 degrees. Put the small plate back on and start the tractor. You should see a significant increase in power at full throttle. If it is not enough power turn the screw another 60 degrees. I would not exceed 180 degrees total. This adjustment is usually done when a turbocharger is added. Your exhaust will blacken appreciably without one. Another easy way to increase power on a diesel is to inject propane vapor in the intake. You could probably get 25-30 hp.
You should also check your throttle linkage to make sure the pump is actually at "wide open throttle". I realize that diesels do not have throttles but I think you know what I mean.

Can not get at leaf spring through timing cover on side of pump need to take off top cover of pump then trun engine over and down through the top of the in side there is a hole to get at the screw.
