I recently read a book written by Ken Updike titled International Harvestor Tractors(1955-1985). So many IH tractor books focus on the very early tractors. I have long searched for a book that speaks to the truely awesome years of International Harvestor. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the 560s through the 50 seris tractors. This book is very informative and interesting. Does anyone know Ken and is he still active in IH tractors? Would be awesome to talk with him about how he put this book together and I would like to thank him. I have an 806 and hope to inherit a 1486 and plan to collect many more IHs.

I took your advice and ordered the above mentioned book between spreading manure and taking soil samples today. Barnes & Nobles has it ready for immediate shipment for 19.95. Those were my favorie IH years. Hope it is good.

I think you'll be glad you did. The thing I like the most about it is that Ken actually puts in some details about IH engineering and why certain decisions were made. He writes about the agreements with Steiger to make 4 wheel drives. Something that most people probably didn't realize. I think you'll be very happy. I am actually reading it again.
