Looking at a red stripe 2-135, but by the serial number it is a 1980 model. Is there other differences between the series 3, (1982-1987) and the earlier models? Thank you.

I am not sure but I think 1980 tractors had the silver stripes-not red. Red was 81 or 82. We had a late 80 or early 81 2-105 with the silver stripes. It was a leftover when we got it new in 82 and the red stripe tractors were already out. Very likely that someone repainted yours and put on the newer red stripes. Easier and cheaper than the silver ones. Does it have the "Field Boss" emblem on the lower front side panel or holes where it would be? The red stripe tractors didn't have these.

The more I think about it I am pretty sure our silver stripe 2-105 was an early 1981. I think 1981 was the changeover year. There was a major serial # break on ours about 200 after ours was built. Different 354 series engine. I would suspect that the paint and decals probably concided with that.

Series III tractors were different. The SeriesIII cab as a whole contained steering column/dash, and all controls as part of the cab. Older tractors, the steering column/dash was part of the tractor. It was pretty air tight and quieter. Throttle and torque lever are on the right side in a console with all the other levers. Kind of like a CASE tractor. A true Series III cab has turn signal lights on all 4 corners of the roof, not on the 2 on the sides. We have a 2-155 Series I and a 2-180 Series III. One other difference is the park lever in done away in the Series III and is part of the shift lever.

I wonder if we need to stop using that 4 turn signal thing as an absolute on the series III? I've got an early 82 2-135,said series III on the original red stripe decals, everything about it is series III except those lights. Mine has the 2 round ones on the side of the cab. If there's one thing I've learned about Oliver and Whites over the years, somebody has something that blows the rules out of the water. Somebody on here even has a 52 Oliver 77 with band brakes.

Where is the throttle and torque levers located? Do you have a park lever by itself?

Everything's on the console. The park is on the shift. Bottom neutral,go to the right and all the way up in to park. Totally isolated cab. It's a Series III. Digital tach and speedo combo, toggles on the dash for all the lights and manifold heater.
