I have a friend that has a M with 4 5/16" x 7 1/2" engine. I've always assumed that you couldn't get an 8060 head to flow enough to feed that size of engine and that you would have to use the 450 gas head to optimize the HP. Am I wrong? I'm not very familar with the red tractors to know for sure. What are your opinions on this. I wouldn't want to change compression just air flow. Thanks.

Got an M almost the same size. Got welded rods, 14-1 comp ratio with the 450 LP head, in it's 9th year and no trouble.

This is not really answering your question but this friends M motor with that size bore and stroke, what rods is he running to allow clearance at the bottom of the cylinder? Thanks

Cyl pressure might go up, ports are alot better, and can be opened up quite nicely. I know on the H and 350 heads,,, a shaved down H head almost equals a 350 gas head's chamber with nothing removed off the 350 head. 350 head still was smaller CC wise, Id imagine the same scenario with the big block heads too. 350 head looked real good after ported for a big stroke H, 450 head would be a work of art! If its got welded rods,, might be afraid of higher cyl pressures. Hope this helps, ChadS
