I would first pick what class youre gonna enter, I would go with the JD. I have seen R's be very competitive in 8500, 9500, 10500 classes, but none were bone stock, kind of a fast first gear for a tight track. Why dont you pull both and have fun twice.

id prefer the r it has better tires on it for pulling im not prejudice i pull a dc but also own 3 jd's iv never sen a la pull but i have seen a 500 pull and it was worthless too heavy in the front no traction

i have seen a 500 diesel win EVERY TIME he pulls but he does pull 12500 has a crazy low gear and is consistant.
