"Vinson" casted right across the intake, cant miss it. Alot heavier built, the intake runners are physically larger than the stock manifold. I had some pictures of one I put on a SM I built up, but was a sure 3 hp gain by bolting it on. Had crisper throttle responce. Timing,, well, I set em on the dyno and always at 540 too. I have no numbers to report as far as exact figures, each engine combo and even identical builds can be set different/have different base timing from one engine to the next. The distributors do have to be looked at on old IH's. Lots of room for improvements, and fuel type, cyl pressure, cam profiles, maybe a few more items to add to the list, all affect base timing. With bout 75% of our engines on E85, the timing has been leaning to the retarded side of the scale. Having a fast responding distributor is the key to getting the crisp, fast throttle responce, getting the timing all in before the rated rpm, so its there, waiting for the load to be applied to the engine. Lighter springs in the advance will help, and you can play with the tab stop on the advance cam in the distributor to get a few more extra degrees to help widen the scale out for higher rpm, and some lower rpm ranges. I slot the holes in the distributor plate, where the cam sits, I go both ways, so it can go a little more advanced an retarded in the mechanical advance travel, and this helps get a different base timing, does seem to help starter lag and get em fired up quicker. So, sorry, got no specs, but thats what Im thinking when I got alot of cyl pressure and the distributor has to be working a little faster to keep up. Hope this helps, ChadS
